The Functional Language Proficiency (FLiP) task, was designed to fill important gaps in the field for Spanish–English learning students: (a) a culturally responsive practice for initiating speech-language pathology services and (b) the need for a functional language proficiency measure for school-aged Spanish–English bilingual children.
